Reading the other submissions, funny how we all seem to recall similar highlights/lowlights.
Straps, warm milk, fear of the 3 storey stairs and of course favourite teachers, good friendships and good times. Weren’t those shops adjacent the school an attraction, if you were lucky to have a few pennies?
What a different world it was back then, I remember walking or riding a bike alone or with friends the length of Essex St from Steelweld, never any concern about personal safety, always people at their front gates watching over the kids going to and fro, eventually the luxury a bus concession ticket ended that though.
I’ve lived in Mooloolaba Qld for the past 25 yrs, immersed in the healthy ocean lifestyle, but I’ll be down to visit my parents and for the Centenary from Fri to Sat and will be attending the dinner party, hope to catchup with a few “oldies” and swap some stories, and memory jog some others.
