A hands-on environmental and social group that supports the Sustainable Schools program at Footscray West.
Connector Bugs is a hands-on environmental and social group that supports the Sustainable Schools program at Footscray West. Parents, toddlers, pre-schoolers, extended family, and community members are all warmly welcome.
Connector Bugs run open gardening sessions in the school grounds every Monday, after assembly at Emu Corner (behind the gym). You don’t need to know anything about sustainability or have a ‘green thumb’ to join in. Just turn up, enjoy the company, the fresh air, and have some fun while making a difference to the local environment.
Robyn or Toby can be contacted via firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like any other information.
As well as helping the students in the vegie gardens and orchard areas, Connector Bugs also support many activities and special projects, including:
- Whole-school cook-ups
- Water saving initiatives
- National Tree Day and Arbour Week
- Classroom activities
- The bush-tucker garden and art project
- The Habitat Haven – an outdoor learning area and sustainable garden along Argyle St
- Classroom composting
- Environmental awards
- Family social events throughout the year
Keep an eye on the Newsletter and Calendar for the latest Connector Bug activities.
If you’ve got a great idea for making our school more sustainable, or just want to see what’s going on, drop by for a chat on Monday mornings.
